Bwills joins Triumph as moose announces retirement
The IEM Beijing-Haidian runners-up were forced to make a move after losing the Canadian to VALORANT.
Kaleb "?moose?" Jayne has taken a step back from Counter-Strike in order to pursue a career in VALORANT, the North American organisation has revealed. The former eUnited and Envy player has been replaced by Brendan "?Bwills?" Williams, a standout performer for New England Whalers during his brief tenure with the team.
The announcement comes just one day after Triumph finished in second place in IEM Beijing-Haidian, in which they pulled off a major upset by beating Liquid in the semi-finals. According to Triumph, moose notified the organisation prior to the tournament of his wish to leave the team due to a "loss of passion for CS".
Bwills spent only two months with New England Whalers, who announced on Sunday that their players had been allowed to explore free agency due to the financial impact of the pandemic on the organisation's parent company, Greenhouse Agency. He averaged a 1.14 rating in all competitions for the team, who were one victory away from qualifying for ESL Pro League Season 13.
"We’re excited to have Bwills join the team," Shawn Bischoff, Triumph's General Manager, said in a statement. "It’s always a pleasure to bring on hungry new talent like Brendan and we believe that he will be an important piece in our team’s future. We are thankful for Moose’s time with our team. His experience and consistency have led us to many victories. We wish him the best of luck in his move to compete in VALORANT."
Triumph's first test with Bwills will be in DreamHack Masters Winter, which will run from November 30 through to December 6, with the team facing Rebirth in their opening match.
With these changes, Triumph will field the following roster:
Alan "?Shakezullah?" Hardeman
Ryan "?ryann?" Welsh
Paytyn "?junior?" Johnson
Erik "?penny?" Penny
Brendan "?Bwills?" Williams
Marcos "?tacitus?" Castilho (coach)
