Sharks bench Luken, release supLex
The Brazilian team have had a mixed year and will focus on rebuilding their roster for 2021.
Sharks have announced that they have moved Luca "?Luken?" Nadotti to the bench and released Mateus "?supLex?" Miranda with immediate effect. The changes come just 24 hours after the team finished second in CLUTCH Season 3 — the latest of a series of near-misses by the Brazilian team in 2020.
Luken joined Sharks in August 2019 from 9z and quickly established himself as one of the team's key players alongside compatriot Ignacio "?meyern?" Meyer, averaging a 1.17 rating on LAN during the final months of the year.
He began 2020 in erratic form but improved as the year progressed, finishing his last four tournaments with above-average numbers. However, his uptick in form did not translate into titles as Sharks were defeated by BOOM in the final of Tribo to Major and the ESL Pro League Season 12, and by RED Canids in the CLUTCH S3 title decider.
According to Sharks, the decision was made "in mutual agreement" after Luken realised that he needed to take some time off. The Argentinian player could still return to the starting lineup, but the Portuguese organisation does not rule out a transfer.
supLex was signed by Sharks in June on a six-month deal after playing for the team as a stand-in. The 21-year-old, a former member of Keyd and 2K, struggled to make an impact with the team and averaged a 0.92 rating.
With these changes, Sharks are left with their core trio of Raphael "?exit?" Lacerda, Jhonatan "?jnt?" Silva and Leonardo "?leo_drk?" Oliveira, who have all been a part of the organisation for over two years. leo_drk has been linked with a temporary switch to MIBR as the Brazilian giants are looking to pick up three stand-ins for their final tournaments of the year, BLAST Premier Fall Series and Flashpoint 2.
Sharks currently have:
Luca "?Luken?" Nadotti (benched)
Hélder "?coachi?" Sancho (coach)
