cogu joins MIBR as manager and coach
The Brazilian legend will be hoping to restore some order to the team during these tough times.
MIBR have announced that they have secured the services of veteran Raphael "?cogu?" Camargo, who becomes the manager and coach of their team. The announcement comes at a delicate moment for the Brazilian squad, who are racing against the clock to find three players before the BLAST Premier Fall Series and Flashpoint 2.
cogu competed in three different iterations of Counter-Strike (1.6, CS:Source and CS:GO), donning MIBR's colors between 2004 and 2008. He is widely regarded as one of the finest AWPers in the history of the franchise and played a key role in Brazil's ascension to relevance as he helped MIBR to win the ESWC title in 2006.
cogu, who has signed a contract until the end of the year, joins MIBR just days after leaving Falkol's VALORANT squad. In a Youtube video, the 35-year-old admitted to being thrilled to return to the team that he took to the top during his playing days.
"I'm very happy to be back and very hyped up," he said. "I could barely sleep until everything was settled. I'm giving up on a lot of things to pursue the dream of mine, which is to be champion. I'll be there to help MIBR, that is what you can expect from me."
cogu is the first addition to MIBR since the organisation decided to dispense with the services of Fernando "?fer?" Alvarenga, Epitacio "?TACO?" de Melo, and coach Ricardo "?dead?" Sinigaglia. Unhappy with the decision, team captain Gabriel "?FalleN?" Toledo opted to step down from the lineup, which is depleted to just two players, Vito "?kNgV-?" Giuseppe and Alencar "?trk?" Rossato.
According to a recent report from Globo Esporte, MIBR are lining up temporary moves for Lucas "?LUCAS1?" Teles, Vinicius "?vsm?" Moreira and Leonardo "?leo_drk?" Oliveira as they look to put together a team for BLAST Premier Fall Series and Flashpoint 2. In cogu's unveiling video, kNgV- said that the final three players "have already reached agreements with MIBR" and should be unveiled soon.
MIBR, who will be staying in Serbia to compete in these tournaments, have been placed in Group C of BLAST Premier alongside Astralis, FURIA and G2. They will take on the Danish side in their first match of the $150,000 tournament, scheduled for November 2.
